2 kg rolled topside
2 ½ tbsp plain flour (All purpose)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
250 g carrots, coarsely chopped
250 g onions, coarsely chopped
350 ml water
1 ½ teaspoon made English mustard
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Pre heat oven gas mark 3, 160° C
Rub the beef with flour.
In pan heat oil then brown the beef on both sides.
Remove and place in a large oven dish.
Fry the onions and carrots in the pan until browned and add to the beef.
Stir the mustard into the beef stock and then add to the beef.
Add salt and pepper.
Cover and cook for 1 ½ -1 ¾ hours
